They call it “private event” and yet it created so much buzz nobody could park in miles radius around Washington Hilton.
Just a remark, such prestigious (and huge!) hotel right in the heart of nation’s capital, should care more about their guests and show attendants in terms of parking. They say “it’s full” and you could see two cars parked on three spots, and some old dirty carpet is “parked” there, too, on Saturday night not less! I’ve seen Divas, certainly pageant participants, circling around few times and leaving who-knows-where, disappointed.
On Saturday night October, 16, beautiful House of Sweden right on Potomac riverfront was receiving huge crowd of beauty connoisseurs. Second Miss Sinergy was about to be crowned that night which made everybody so nervous and excited! First Miss Sinergy ever was Ally Rose (who is, by the way, is about to compete for yet another crown soon, Miss Maryland).
Miss Sinergy is an annual beauty pageant benefiting breast cancer society.
Twenty finalists, chosen by public voting earlier, got to compete in final “battle for the title”. Swimsuit competition, evening gown competition, and then final questionnaire for the best six. In between the competitions viewers were entertained by comedian Tehran SoParvaz, magician Josh Norris, singer Krista McClellon.
The judging panel included: former Project Runway cast member Emmett McCarthy, star of Blonde Charity Mafia Katherine Kennedy, Miss Slovak Republic Anna Amenova, director of Sustainable Iceland LLD Baldwin Jonsson, adjunct professor of trial advocacy Justin Daniel, assistant coach for the women’s rowing team at Columbia Malcolm Doldron, author Matthew Christian Davis, social entrepreneur Nakeva Corothers, Miss Universe New Zealand Ria Van Dyke, fashion entrepreneur and stylist Robin Fleming, Miss Maryland USA 2010 Simone Feldman, Miss Universe Sweden 2009 Renate Cerljen. Event was hosted by comedian and reality-television personality Dan Renzi and Miss Oklahoma USA 2010 Morgan Woolard.
Christa Taylor Aiken was titled as “Miss Photogenic”, Dana Filatova – as “Best in evening gown”, Lauren Ashley – as “Best in swimsuit” and Chardelle Moore as “Miss Congeniality”. And (********drum roll**********) Miss Sinergy 2011 became Megan McConville!!! Congratulations, well deserved!
This rainy Thursday New Zealand Embassy was brightened by visit of Ria Van Dyke, Mis Universe New Zealand 2010. She arrived to the US as a member of judge panel for beauty pageant “Miss Sinergy 2011” which is being held at House of Sweden this Saturday. Apart from this duty, Ria has very busy schedule and visiting motherland embassy was one of the first tasks on the list. In honor of her “homecoming” there was very warm and hospitable tea party organized by embassy staff (great thanks to Michelle Parish). Miss NZ gave a speech, answered the questions, paid a visit to Ambassador himself, had a tour in the Embassy and had her pictures taken with all who desired, and guess who did not! It is, truly, full time job (and a hard one!) to be Miss Beauty Queen.
Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday in the House of Sweden!
I’d not use the word “kill” two birds with one stone, I’d say “catch” two butterflies. Yesterday, Marriott in North Bethesda received two great events right in our format – Miss Maryland orientation and La Casa Hermosa trunk show, which girls could attend right before or after. Both events were a blast! So many beautiful pampered women floating around, chirping, laughing, trying gowns on… No wonder it attracted some free-weekend-time males who obviously had nothing to do neither with beauty pageant nor dress sales!
