“If you don’t take money, they can’t tell you what to do” (c) Bill Cunningham

He ripped his first check (and many others) in pieces from New York Times because he wanted to stay artistically free. And he did.

He is one of the last tenants standing, along with Editta Sherman, of Carnegie Hall NYC.  He doesn’t care about celebrities, food, or romance. He is always sitting in first row on New York Fashion week, as well as Paris, where they once called him “The most important person in the world”. He is shooting film. He is wearing blue working uniform jacket for $20 because it has many pockets and doesn’t wear out so quickly because of the camera constantly rubbing against stomach area. This legendary New York Times photojournalist, Bill Cunningham, is the object of new documentary, privately screened this Thursday in Bethesda Row Landmark Theatre.

Great afterparty was held at Mon Ami Gabi.

Enjoy the pictures of the afterparty only, since, you understand, no photography allowed during screening.
