Hugo Boss and Men’s Health: no unfashioned man left behind!

03 Apr

by Yulia Mikhalchuk

Neiman Marcus at Mazza Gallerie invited everybody on Thursday evening for fashionable but rare event in DC – it was all about men! Hugo Boss is landing in Neiman, and so many very special guests came to celebrate the fact. Although we see men’s fashions on the runways around the city, it is very unique to concentrate on men and men only! Matt Birk, Baltimore Ravens Center (and father of 6 at 35!) and fashion director of “Men’s Health” Brian Boye performed an interview, and then Matt signed limited edition pictures, to the joy of fans. Throughout the event, guests very much enjoyed Manhattans and wine and fingerfoods by  Fiola restaurant.

Enjoy the pictures!

The 60ss, the steak, and the fashion

29 Mar

by Yulia Mikhalchuk

The night of March 25 was very well anticipated and buzzed about way in advance. It was THE_Mad_Men_night, when season 5 premiere aired. Many venues around the city (public and private) hosted viewing parties, but of course I will tell you about the one I attended, – in Bourbon Steak at Four Seasons DC. Private lounge was pure resemblance of that era, from beautiful outfits to floral table treatments, from waitresses’ uniforms to the drinks’ recipes… The only difference there were… nobody smoked (phew!) Two hours of season kick-off flew in a blink, and food and drinks never ended (too bad somebody had to drive home!)  Please enjoy the pictures!

Regarding the movie itself… I would say, it was “okay” appetizer – good enough to tease but not good enough to fully satisfy. It felt a little flat, like it was rushed and not thought out, like producers decided to rest on the clouds for a while. It would get full house anyway, why bother too much! Of course, fashions were impeccable. To me the most impressive is always not what leading actresses wear, but large crowds appearing on the screen for literally seconds!

Question of the evening – WHERE IS BETTY?

Sarah Mais and Gavin W Bowie

Amazing salad with marshmallows!

martini and olive

marvelous dessert!

Yes it is spring in Four Seasons!

Mad Men season 5 coming – are you fashionably ready or fashionably late?

23 Mar

by Yulia Mikhalchuk

How excited are you about Mad Men new season just few days away? I hope you have your outfit out and ready to be “walked”! “Bourbon Steak” at Four Seasons Hotel is hosting a viewing party. $75.00 includes cocktail party at 7, three-course dinner at 8, The_Movie at 9, and prizes! Tax and gratitude included. I’m trying to imagine the sea of colorful skirty dresses, beautifully styled hair and small purses. How good can you do, DC?

For reservations or more information, please call 202-944-2026 or email bourbonsteak.was@fourseasons.com

2 hour show premiere airs on Sunday, March 25, at 9/8c on amc.

I personally a little bit upset about Betty Draper migrating from Grace Kelly’s style to Jacky Kennedy’s, but well, I guess it’s only logical. Being now a mom of three and a politician’s wife, the crowd she is now swimming in has changed, too. So, as much as we loved her iconic feminine looks, we now have to wave them good-byes and greet a new, matured and polished Betty. Bye-bye, Birdie.

Luckily, you can now find  dresses with slight differences in skirts but same fabric/pattern/vibe, so the switch Grace/Jackie and vice versa is not so drastic. Here is a little teaser of amazing dresses, shift and prom, from Fever Designs in the United Kingdom who don’t deliver over the ocean! But, at least we can get an idea…

Same pair in cream, SHIFT and PROM

Well, to get closer to earth, Target offers very MadMen dress just for $24.99 by Merona (also available in black and fresh raspberry):

While still in Target, here is one amazing by Jason Wu (sold out online, though, but you can try looking for it in the store!)

Judge for yourself how similar these dresses are, but… you can find one on Etsy HERE just for $55.25! Just one available.

Can’t help but share this amazing vintage 1967 Dior coat on ShrimptonCouture for $1,800.00

To jump in price range, here is something fab for just $56.00 by Ronni Nicole on Kohls:

Love this floral print dress, very Mrs.Draper! On Coggles for £221

Another floral vintage – blue sequined rose dress on Blue Velvet Village

And of course, what is 1950-60ss wardrobe without polka dots! On Mod Cloth for $155.99

In the same place you can find this stunner in cadmium blue, So Joan Holloway! Just for $47.99

There is also a dress Peggy Olson would wear! for $44.99

Anjou Clothing offers lots of vintage looking dresses, enjoy HERE

$105.00 will get you this colorful plaid sun dress on Vintageous:

Absolutely have to share this one – Emily and Fin for £30 – on Coggles

What have I forgotten… Oh, lace, of course! Here is this adorable salmon lace dress on Vintageous for $210.00

So, I hope you enjoy this new season of Mad Men, regardless the size of your wallet. Of course, there are tons of dresses, purses, shoes, glasses and jewelry out there, considering the hotness of this fashion era now, so I guess it just makes the hunt easier.

Elie Tahari’s spring fashions

19 Mar

by Yulia Mikhalchuk

Many Tahari’s fans concentrated in “Wear now” on Three in Saks Fifth Avenue Tysons this Saturday.  Freshest spring fashions (and in this weather it feels like it’s time for the fall trends) were presented in very brief but substantial fashion show the spectators got to absorb what’s on this season. Neutrals and subtle colors, nothing edgy, all very classy and feminine, as it always happened under Tahari brand. Sangrias and delicious fingerfoods were riding trays all around, shopping was active, and somebody won a clutch in a raffle!

Enjoy the pictures as usual.
