“Labels for love” are hate-proof

04 Nov

Text, photos and video

by Yulia Mikhalchuk

First you might think – what time and location could be worse for an event – weekday, November, night, by the water, under rain, not_on_the_map lumber shed… But when it comes to “Labels for love” by Mary Schmidt Amons, you realize that nothing can stop really  passionate people. Modus Union parisian salon party – an exclusive evening of fashion, art and philanthropy – successfully delivered yesterday. The event benefited Cancer Schmancer Foundation, which is dedicated to saving women’s lives through early detection and prevention of cancer.

Once you please your insides with hot yummies provided by numerous sponsors, it does not feel like November chill anymore and you can enjoy the art of all forms – paintings, furniture, clothes, jewelry, all spiced with live music and circus performances.

Unique Art Whino showcased 6000 sq ft art exhibit and Live painting by Brandon Hill, Ariit Das, Cita, Michael Owen, James Walker, Josh Taylor, Maggie O’Neill and Sylvia Ortiz.

Next time, even if it’s happening on a Moon during a “Moonquake”, we are coming!

Art + “Science” = Philanthropy

28 Oct

Text and photos

by Yulia Mikhalchuk

On Wednesday night “Science” club has transformed into photo gallery. Seems like inviting people into a bar with free first drink is a very effective way to attract them to art and philanthropy.  Four digital artists – Nader Aghili, Natalya Skiba, Berkay Demirkan and Liliane Blom – were selling their pieces to benefit Doorways. Very tight, or should I say “cozy” space was packed and boiling with activity. So, if you are hunting for art and wish to go philanthropic at the same time, you don’t have to go to museum – next door bar would do, just look for information!
