“Sugar and champagne” for 11th time – for dogs’ sake

03 Feb

by Yulia Mikhalchuk

First day of February was sweetened and showered with champagne to benefit Washington Humane Society for the 11th time in the row. About 70 restaurants and beverage professionals participated in annual charitable affair, now in Ronald Reagan Building. Every year event grows bigger and represents more vendors, and every year more dog owners come to support (and try all the yummies). It might not be the best environment for dogs to socialize, but it’s definitely the most spacious and the most doggy-crowded place that you can ever find in DC under one roof. Needless to say, besides the mingling, dogs get to try fabulous treats, too.

“Sugar and Champagne” was created 11 years ago by Ellen and Chef Todd Gray of Equinox, Watershed restaurants and Muse at the Corcoran.

Enjoy the pictures and come again next year for 12 annual! Recap of the 10th on DressHopper can be found HERE.

They “walked this way” against domestic violence

05 Nov

by Yulia Mikhalchuk

On Wednesday night, November 2, Andrew Mellon Auditorium was filled with people willing to stop domestic violence for good. Washington Redskins’ Brian Orakro, Anthony Armstrong, DeAngelo Hall, Capitals’ John Carlson, Karl Alzner, Nick Backstrom, DC United’s Ben Olsen, Former Redskins’ Gary Clark, Former Jets’ John Booty and others walked the runway to support Becky’s Fund in their biggest annual fundraiser “Walk This Way”.

Co-hosted by Comcast Sportsnet’s Julie Donaldson and Fox’s Steve Chenevey, this event featured amazing food, fashion, and entertainment all while supporting Becky’s Fund’s efforts in promoting the prevention of domestic and dating violence in our communities. In addition to the fashion show, Art Soiree Co. added an artistic touch to the evening by presenting a special art exhibit of local artists’ work, as part of their Art Can Make A Difference project.

To add colorful glamor to the evening, Maggy Norris Couture smashed the runway getting roaming ovations.

Enjoy the pictures and mark your calendars for Walk This Way 2012!

Siriano shares the runway with 14 DC designers, resulting 30,000.00 raised

26 Oct

by Yulia Mikhalchuk

On October 21, Pink Jams! hosted “Pink rocks the runway” to raise awareness and funds to help women under 40 beat breast cancer.

Atrium in Ronald Reagan Building was filled with colorful lights, dressed up crowd and live music by “Charm City Devils”. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres were all around to heat up the anticipation.

Fourteen young survivors “strut their stuff” on the runway, rocking pink outfits specifically made for this event by DC local designers. After each model in pink owned it, “Pink tie guy” took the shift diluting femininity with masculinity.  Finally, so anxiously awaited Christian Siriano‘s collection hit the runway. Fourth season “Project runway” winner Siriano brought to his hometown his whole Spring-Summer 2012 collection (over 30 outfits!). He wowed the crowd with polished corals and lime greens, as well as ruffled neutrals. His lavished, never restrained or modest looks are now recognizable and loved throughout the country.

As a conclusion of the event, Pink Jams!’ President Christa Floresca, flanked by Siriano and Doughty, presented a check for 30 thousand dollars to former First Lady of Washington, DC, Michelle Cross Fenty, for the Capital Breast Care Center.

Guests completed themselves with generously filled swags and lanced to official afterparty  at Hard Rock Cafe.

Pink Jams! intrigued everybody by promising not less exciting program for 2012, and there is no reason not to believe them!
