by Yulia Mikhalchuk

On February 28 Chanel at Saks Fifth Avenue Chevy Chase hosted a trunk show, presenting new spring fashions straight from the runway, and new sample bags and shoes. Models dressed in exquisite garments with 5-number price tags, walked around  to please the eyes of very few. Champagne and sweets were provided to spice up your shopping (or spectating) experience.

Neiman Marcus Spring Preview

27 Feb

by Yulia Mikhalchuk

Neiman Marcus of Tysons Galleria presented spring preview showcase on February 22. Guests first enjoyed refreshments and finger foods in NM cafe, and then proceeded to a fashion show.

We celebrate prints  – bolds or demures, graphics or florals; and color – pink is greeted back, neons are on! What appeared to me most and what I always loved – print jackets! Oh, and of course, “yellow is the new neutral”! Sunny, bright, uplifting color is very well appreciated this season. Hurray! Who thought, but sport is truly fashionable now – it surfaces even on dresses, which makes them more accessible and multipurposed.

Enjoy the pictures with commentaries, hope you will find handy information for you. And, let’s have fashion fun this spring (which starts whatever you decide, even if it’s freezing February!)

Mick Rock photography exhibit at W

19 Feb

by Yulia Mikhalchuk

Those of you who appreciate music, rock & roll, the seventies, or just awesome photography are invited to living room of W Washington DC from March 2-31. Legendary Mick Rock, a.k.a. ‘the man who shot the seventies’, will have his exhibit open to public, with both old and new pieces.

Since 2008, Rock has captured intimate behind-the-scenes portraits and on-stage theatrics at W’s live music series, Symmetry Live, which offers W guests insider access to who’s new and next in music. These images, which include shots of past Symmetry Live performers like Cee Lo Green, Janelle Monae and Ellie Goulding, will be displayed alongside Rock’s famed photos of rock and roll legends such as David Bowie, Debbie Harry and Iggy Pop. In addition, the exhibit will include Rock’s latest photographs of some of music’s most acclaimed talents, including Bono, Snoop Dogg, Alicia Keys and Lady Gaga.

Here is photo of Bowie and Ronson at lunch in 1973, by Mick Rock.

Gilt City’s warehouse/closet revealed

14 Feb

by Yulia Mikhalchuk

On Friday the 10th Gilt City DC gave access to its treasured warehouse to the VIP/press, with following sale event on Saturday for the public. Long View gallery was buzzing and babbling with excitement of privileged shoppers, digging through goods and sipping on the campaign. Rivers of designers garments, shoes, accessories and whatnot were filtered by DC fashionistas, leaving messy piles behind like 3 year-olds on Halloween playdate. Yours truly attended the first part and it was scary to imagine what has actually happened on Saturday night with about 1000 people RSVPd for the event.

Enjoy some pics which I could not help but treat in randomly vintage-y style. Oh and by the way those granola bars were beyond amazing. What was the brand again? Were eaten ruthlessly.

Tons and tons of stuff! I wonder if there is anything left now?

Jason Wu is in Target – don’t blame it on the cat!

10 Feb

by Yulia Mikhalchuk

Highly anticipated and widely announced Jason Wu‘s pieces finally occupied front racks in Target - and some are already sold out! Breezy, tender, romantic colors, very feminine flattering silhouettes, and just total irresistible cuteness of every creation – obviously this is what people fed up with winter were really hungry for!

They take it to the next level every time Target presents new brand!

Best forgiving silhouettes ever. I had this navy dress when I was little girl. Love the socks with shoes.

It is amazing how fashion returns! So comfortable, so effortless, so easy, so light.

Scarves. Infamous cat multiplied!

Genious hand.

Beside the preciousness of everything he does… nothing is more expensive than $50! Can be purchased online HERE and in Target stores Nationwide.

Other significant brands Target carried (and yours truly loved…) among many others are: Isaac Mizrahi, Jovovich-Hawk and Missoni

The Style Network luncheon at Michel

09 Feb

by Yulia Mikhalchuk

Last day of January always feels like “it’s almost spring” time. February, although usually the most atrocious of all winter months, always seems just like last step of a ladder. How symbolic it was to have Style Network Luncheon to present the freshest spring pieces that Tysons Galleria retailers will have available! I would tell spring itself already is happy and exciting, but with trends demonstrated it only made it even more anticipated! Lots of colors, unpredictable combinations, patterns, as well as pretty neutrals. See for yourself on the pictures and in person in TG’s boutiques. Spring will be here in a blink. Oh, and of course the most delicious food by magnificent Gusto-like Chef Michel Richard only spruced up the show. Also, there were demonstrations of exquisite cosmetic products, and smashing hairdo’s by Sassoon.

Dreamy, pure colors and striking silhouettes are very in!

“Sugar and champagne” for 11th time – for dogs’ sake

03 Feb

by Yulia Mikhalchuk

First day of February was sweetened and showered with champagne to benefit Washington Humane Society for the 11th time in the row. About 70 restaurants and beverage professionals participated in annual charitable affair, now in Ronald Reagan Building. Every year event grows bigger and represents more vendors, and every year more dog owners come to support (and try all the yummies). It might not be the best environment for dogs to socialize, but it’s definitely the most spacious and the most doggy-crowded place that you can ever find in DC under one roof. Needless to say, besides the mingling, dogs get to try fabulous treats, too.

“Sugar and Champagne” was created 11 years ago by Ellen and Chef Todd Gray of Equinox, Watershed restaurants and Muse at the Corcoran.

Enjoy the pictures and come again next year for 12 annual! Recap of the 10th on DressHopper can be found HERE.
