Viennese Ball waltzed gracefully last Saturday

27 Feb

by Yulia Mikhalchuk

On Saturday night February, 26, International Club of DC hosted Viennese Ball at National Museum of Women in the Arts. Men in elegant tuxedos and women in gorgeous gowns gathered together for dance, live music, performances by professional dancers and fantastic food. When you don’t have to go to work the next day – what could be more relaxing? The ball folded up at midnight, so everybody could leave feeling like Cinderellas!

Enjoy the pictures.

Threads of unity collected threads for more than one shirt

22 Feb

by Yulia Mikhalchuk

When you think of Pakistani fashions, you know for sure it is not just pieces of fabric sewn together. It is always color, layers, embroidery, beading, layering… lots of effort and love put together to create one garment. So, to attend Pakistani fashion show is always a thrill, – you know there will be many “wows” and “awes” and other exclamations. It is extra bang when you know this show supports those in need – victims of flood.

On Saturday night, February 19, Westin Arlington Gateway was full of that color and sparkle. “Threads of unity” fashion show, featuring Pakistani designer Nomi Ansari, graced the runway and left everybody in pure ecstatic mood. There is so much elegance and femininity to these clothes, no wonder lines formed after the show to buy those off the rack!  There was men collection, too, as well colorful and embroidered.

Shannon Grewer, founder of Fashion for Pakistan flood relief, highlighted in her speech, that there are still tons to be done, although media almost don’t talk about it anymore. It is not “hot” anymore? Yes, tragedy happened more than half year ago, but considering that about 20 million people got directly affected by it, and fifth part of whole country went underwater, the amount of resources needed to rebuild and recover is enormous. And of course, fashion is always there to help.

Chocolate paws happy hour fundraiser at CO CO SALA

16 Feb

It is International Women’s day! What, you didn’t know it? Check HERE. My favorite part: “...the day lost its political flavour, and became simply an occasion for men to express their love for women in a way somewhat similar to a mixture of Mother’s Day and St Valentine’s Day”

So, how we celebrate it? By spoiling ourselves. We accept flowers. We go beautify ourselves. WE DO…N”T DO ANY HOUSEWORK (UGH!!!) Homework doesn’t count though. We buy ourselves something nice (and get gifts, too). And then we go celebrate our fabulousness and beauty. And femininity. What is all women’s favorite? Chocolate, of course! Chocolate equals love, and hey, there is never too much love you can get!

Come and enjoy the whole lounge kindly provided to our group by
Co Co.Sala – chat, sip, chocolatize yourself and enjoy great company. And hey, guys are invited, as well! Who else is to remind us how precious we are!

I encourage everybody to come, especially my Russian girls, there is no reason for you to miss “Mimosa day” in the States, it_is_International!!!

Those who can’t just_donate, or can’t attend other fundraisers – this is your chance to feel good about supporting a cause, and have deliciousness delivered to your belly, all for Happy_Hour_Prices.

10% of bar sales go to Washington Humane Society.

Please share with your friends!

Happy Spring you all.

Jimmy Choo celebrates new fragrance

14 Feb

by Yulia Mikhalchuk

On Saturday, 12, right on Lincoln’s Birthday, Jimmy Choo of Saks Fifth Avenue in Tysons Galleria hosted a champagne reception to celebrate new perfume as well as the Jimmy Choo Crystal Anniversary Collection. Every guest could enjoy some bubble drinks while shopping, and get very pretty aroma sample in pink with bag or shoes purchase. Perfect choice for those who doesn’t want to go too sweet or too “oceany” – it’s a balanced combination of both.

Stay tuned for more events as Tysons Galleria is a master of throwing parties, big and small.
